I am in my late 40s and bilingual. Although I was born in South America I settled in the UK over 18 years.
My interest in counselling began when I studied Psychology in South America. Since my early 20s I had the opportunity to work with a diversity of children, young people, adults and elderly who experienced a variety of distressing and complicated life events, supporting their emotional well-being within diverse charities.
I have worked in a charities such as the NCH (National Children’s Homes, currently called Action for Children) in a Family Well-Being project, Place2Be and in a primary school offering one to one emotional support for children and young people suffering after an important change in their lives (divorce, step-families, bereavement, sibling rivalry, low self-esteem, anger, trauma, parental alcohol or drug misuse, amongst others).
I have also worked in a Lancashire’s Women’s Centre and in Blackburn Carer’s Service offering counselling to young adults, adults and elderly people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, separation, sexual identity, change in family situation, stress, low self-esteem, anger, isolation, eating disorders, to name a few.
I have a Foundation Degree in Psychology, an MA in Educational Psychology an MA in Christian Theology and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and have a full enhanced DBS clearance. As a member of the BACP I am bound to their ethical framework and require monthly supervision.
I strongly believe that we all have a fountain of inner strength and wisdom which can guide our healing. I have experienced myself and witnessed in many clients along these past years that despite at times feeling as if we are in a bottomless pit, covered with a dark cloud unable to move forward, there is deep within us an innate desire to improve our lives, to look for a solution, to grow. Even though at times that light might seem to fade when we have the opportunity of “getting things out” we open up new possibilities to understand what is going on inside us, to re-connect with ourselves and to re-discover the inner resources and compass we need.
